The Middle Atlantic States, US Tourism

Posted by admin | TOURISM | Sunday 10 January 2010 6:47 am

In the closing decades of the 18th century, the major action in the New World was held here:  George Washington’s audacious crossing of the Delaware River made possible the colonists’ victory in the Battle of Trenton; Virginia saw the war’s final battles and surrender;  the Constitution was hammered out in Philadelphia; and Daleware ratified the Constitution and became the first State.

The Middle Atlantic countryside is a land much walked through and fought over.  Beyond the New Jersey Turnpike are having long beaches, casino games filled Atlantic City and Victorian Cape May to the east;  horse country, ski  resorts, and Philadelphia to the west are some of the areas interested for the tourists.  The Eastern Shore’s Delaware and Maryland beaches are sedate or winging.  Virginia Beach is both and liked by tourists.  Baltimore combines historic buildings with new restaurants and shops;  The interesting and attracting area is Williamsburg and here you will hear echoes of the Revolution and sample of life in the 18th century.
