The School Mindscape

An important aspect of good architecture is its landscape.  Any construction without a good landscape suffers from the inadequacy of aesthetics.  The  landscape provides the necessary ambience for a good living.  It provides the required emotional support for various activities in its area and offers the people living therein – happiness, joy and peace, in addition to a sense of comfort.

The occupants are able to work in a relaxed manner and can enjoy their work.  This is also true of the mindscape of a school. Just as the landscape exhibits the aesthetics, the mindscape of a school provides the necessary aesthetics and ambience for its clientele.  It adds value to the school environment by providing the required elevations (in thought), the projections and a sectional view.  The three dimensional projection of the mindscape of a school exhibits its commitment, its action plan and its achievements.  It shows the quality of the hardware, the effectiveness of the software and the commitment of the ‘human ware’ that have gone in to building the school.

Human Excellence

How wonderful is the human life.  There is no religion, no scripture, no system of philosophy that has not considered the human life as the most emancipated form of all living creatures.  It is encompassed by a form and a frame, an intellect,  a mind and a spirit, that is the most mystic combination which any power could have thought of.

The ingenuity of his creation is possibly an attempt of nature to manifest and unravel itself in its most complex, aesthetic and finite form.  His capacity to enlarge his horizon of existence and operation is a thrust of the finite to expand and merge with the infinite nature to which he owes his existence.

Education on Creativity

Human excellence has always been linked to a display of the creative potentials of the individual.  It is, therefore, important to nurse and nurture creativity in the educational process.  This would warrant flexibility in approach, provide for self-learning and facilitate self-evaluation.

As creativity is individual specific, it is necessary to provide ample scope for individual learning.  Though it would be impossible to deal with each individual in a big size classroom, it may be achieved by providing the necessary ambience for furthering creativity.  The need for downsizing the classroom is a very important issue which we cannot afford to miss.

In an isolated island there live two tibres: SACHAS and JHUTAS.  The Sachas always speak the truth, whereas the Jhutas never do.

One day SUNIL, a stranger in the island, met four tribesmen.  He asked one of them whether the second was Sacha or Jhuta.  The reply was Jhuta.  Similarly the second tribesman said that the third was a Jhuta, and the third said the same about the fourth.  When he asked the fourth as to what would the first tribesman have said about the third, the reply onceagain was Jhuta.  Who’s who ?
